Dr. Flanders at Burnout Talk

Dr Flanders presented at the annual medical staff meeting at Providence Hospital in Kansas City on November 11.  His  topic was the prevention of burnout.  The emphasis was on helping physicians understand the contributing factors, symptoms and costs of burnout. Dr. Flanders described strategies and demonstrated mindful and self reflections strategies.  He discussed the importance of how the use of mindfulness and self reflection on a daily basis promotes wellbeing and may prevent burnout.  He explained that self care and wellbeing are a part of the core competency area of Professionalism.  He encouraged the participants to think of concrete steps they could take to promote health and wellbeing.
